It’s a great way for those who are interested in homebrewing to dip their toes in the water of brewing their own beer. One such brewery that stands out is the Dayton area’s Eudora Brewing Co., which provides beer drinkers the ability to brew their own beer on premises. With so many breweries popping up in seemingly every corner, it’s important for a brewery to do things to stand out. If you’re looking for something lighter, try the Broken Trolley Blonde Ale (5.2%). Their most popular beer is the Java Man Cometh (7.8%) Stout, which I haven’t had yet but I plan on finding once it’s stout season again. I’ve had their Oregon Alley Imperial IPA (8%), which is a nice high gravity that drinks well just like other imperials. So you can check out some new stuff while you drink their stuff. One of the cool things about them is that not only do they have a wealth of their own beers on tap, but they also have plenty of other offerings from some of the best breweries from around Ohio. They also have pizza available at a small restaurant inside the brewery, so you’ll be covered if you go hungry.

It’s a fairly large spot, with plenty of room inside, as well as a pretty big patio outside. They have two different locations, but we’ve been to the one in Downtown Dayton (Update: Their original location closed in August 2017). They also offer wine and spirits if you’re not in the mood for beer.Īngie’s brother Joe and his girlfriend Emsie live literally right across the street from Dayton Beer Co., so of course we’ve been there. All were definitely drinkable and they have a nice variety of offerings. We decided to try some things we hadn’t had, so we ordered a flight with their Short Fuze IPA, Bombs Away Double IPA, Matchstick Amber Ale, Wee Bit O Trouble Scotch Ale, and Gose Down Berry Easy. They’ve got a decent amount of taps with 17, with mostly their own brews but also select guest taps and ciders.

The brewery itself is small and cozy – with a decent sized bar, as well as high top bar tables, low top picnic tables, and even couches for more comfortable seating. The brewery is situated in a big shopping center with tons of traffic and they were pretty busy on the Saturday night that we visited.Īfter trying a couple of their beers – Roadside Peanut Butter Porter and Trinity Haze New England IPA – at Cincy Beerfest, they ended up on our short list of must visit breweries.

The beer is easy drinking, smooth, and some might say a perfect summer sipper, so it makes a lot of sense that it’s what they’re leading off with.Crooked Handle opened in Springboro at the end of 2015, becoming the first craft brewery in the fast-growing area. They’re going to kick it off by releasing their Basmati Cream Ale in gorgeous yellow-orange cans adorned by the big FigLeaf logo. The brewery wasn’t shy from the get-go in telling us that they had plans to release cans sooner rather than later, and they weren’t kidding! In fact, we’re going to see the first release from them on Saturday, June 17th in their taproom at noon. FigLeaf understands, and is ready to meet those needs as well. I LOVE being able to stock my fridge with beer easily from my local breweries.

That’s not all, though… I know that most of you here are beer drinkers, and thus will be excited about this part too – cans! Cans! Figleaf Cans! The time frame, and some of the details are still a little fuzzy – for now they’re only saying “near term” as far as a when – but the fact that we’ve got them talking about it means that you can start getting excited now. It’s downright cruel of us “beer people” to drag all you non beer drinkers on our excursions out to our local taprooms, and we try to convince you that the latest sour or saison will satisfy the same parts of your palate that your wine does… but it’s never the same, is it?įigLeaf also understands the pain you’re feeling, and is looking to fix it in their taproom by offering up their own wine. The brewery which is located almost smack dab in between Cincinnati and Dayton is quickly finding not only ways to make themselves a destination for drinkers from both sides of our little “mini region”, but they’re also finding a great way to make sure that even if you’re not venturing out for the afternoon, you’ve got a great way to enjoy their beer when you’re at home. FigLeaf Brewing Company isn’t even yet to their first anniversary, and they’re already poised to knock out a couple of their big goals in the near future.
